RPG-a-Day 11: Wilderness

Today’s prompt for RPG-a-Day is ‘Wilderness’.

One of the tropes of fantasy games are dungeons in the wilderness. If the wilderness is so wild and untamed, then who built those structures that have become the dungeons? And if there is a civilization whose ancestors built those dungeons, why are they helpless to deal with whatever is in the dungeon?
This is how RPGs get their white-saviour, colonialist themes. Something to stay mindful of when designing adventures.
